Undulate Ray
Undulate rays have to be one f the best looking rays with the patterns on the top of their bodies they are a sandy yellow with brown patterns on them with light spots, the underside is a off white or cream and they have teeth so beware when unhooking.
Rigs:
Running ledger rig: 60lb Rig body, 60lb hook length 3ft leading to a single 3/0 or 4/0 hook.
Up & Over rig: 60lb Rig body, 60lb hook length 3ft+ leading to a 3/0 hook or 4/0 hook.
Pulley dropper rig: 60lb Rig body, 60lb hook length 3ft leading to a 3/0 or 4/0 hook.
Pulley rig: 60b Rig body, 60lb hook length length 3ft leading to a 3/0 or 4/0 hook
Baits:
Sprats: Whipped on whole with a clear hooking point and tail snipped off.
Sardines: Whipped on whole again with the tail snipped off and a clear hooking point.
Mackerel: Cut into strips as long as your finger and as fat roughly hook through once and whip shank to the fish.
Bluey: Great bait cut a fillet off and half it use on its own or mix with squid strip to strengthen it whip together it can be a killer combo!
Sandeel: whip a couple together and chop off the heads and tails and whip on your hook.
Grounds:
Undulates tend to favour a sandy or muddy grounds but can be found on cleaner gravels as well feeding, when undulates take your bait don’t leave the striking like you would leave other rays to prevent deep hooking please note that undulate rays are now a protected fish.
